YOUR SUPERIOR COLORADO SHUTTER COMPANY Q&A’S
-
Q1. How do your prices compare to stores or window covering companies??
Let’s say you’re considering $15,000 for composite shutters from a store brand or mass-market window covering company. Why not invest a little more for a dramatic difference in quality and unmatched views through your shutters?
We are not a cheap, mass-produced company from overseas. We are a family-owned, USA-based company specializing in rare, custom Stabilized Plantation Shutters with meticulous attention to detail.
When you consider every aspect of the shutter installation process, you’ll see we’re highly competitive while providing far superior quality, including:
Thicker, premium materials
Clean-lined, modern flat louver design
Superior tilt system
Better views (maximizing your natural light and sightlines)
Transferable warranty
Detailed, professional installation
The result is a strikingly better view and an elegant, bold, clean-lined look that elevates your space.
We do offer a B-grade shutter to help manage costs, but this comes with some compromises. Remember: you’re investing in a high-end product — it’s worth planning, budgeting, and getting exactly what you expect. It’s better to wait and plan than to settle for cheap shutters and regret it later.
-
Q2. What is your lead-time?
“I want my shutters now.”
We understand the desire for immediate results. However, exceptional shutters are not rushed. True craftsmanship requires time, precision, and proper curing of finishes to ensure lasting beauty and performance.
When investing in premium shutters, allowing the process to unfold correctly is essential. That said, expedited production may be available upon request and may involve an additional investment.
For clients with urgent timelines, we offer an EXPEDITE option: Our shutter program that offers the fastest turnaround, and installed in as little 6 weeks.
Our Water proof Vinyl Shutter option is also quickly installed for emergencies or high moisture areas but not quite the quality of our Real Stabilized wood shutters.

Our philosophy: Luxury is never rushed. We believe the most beautiful results are worth the wait. We treat every job as fine furiniture for your windows.

Q3. Are USA made wood shutters affordable?
Our first priority is earning your trust. With thoughtful guidance and transparency, we help clients discover the value of true, stabilized wood shutters. It’s no coincidence that most of our referrals come from our finest projects — the difference is seen, felt, and remembered.
For just a modest investment more per square foot, you can choose exceptional shutters crafted to a higher standard. The quality is unmistakable. We encourage careful consideration when comparing mass-produced, third-party products, which often prioritize price over precision and longevity.
We understand that every project has a budget, and sometimes a simpler solution is necessary. However, for clients who have planned and invested in their homes, it’s often worth waiting or adjusting slightly to ensure the right decision is made once.
This is where our approach stands apart. We offer a transferable lifetime limited warranty, paired with a 10-year finish warranty — an uncommon level of confidence in real wood craftsmanship. With proper care, our shutters age gracefully and perform beautifully for decades.
Premium wood shutters do cost more than imported alternatives, but when quality is your priority, the distinction is clear. Just as you wouldn’t furnish your home with plastic, shutters deserve the same thoughtful consideration. For over a century, wood has remained the standard — for good reason.
Choose with intention. True quality always endures.

Q4. What is your warranty?
What makes your warranty different?
Many warranties sound reassuring until you read the fine print. Ours is designed to be clear, meaningful, and built for the life of your home.
We offer a transferable lifetime limited warranty, meaning it stays with the home — not just the original owner. This provides long-term value and peace of mind. Unlike many standard warranties, ours even covers real-world scenarios, including accidental damage and pets (yes, even dogs chewing slats).
While many retailers and blind or shade companies outsource their shutters and frequently change programs, we are family owned, four generations strong, with over 76 years in the shutter industry. We’re committed to consistency, craftsmanship, and standing behind our work long term.
Our premium shutters also include a 10-year finish warranty, well beyond the typical 3–5 years offered elsewhere. With proper care, our finishes are designed to age beautifully for decades.
We encourage clients to always ask detailed questions and read the fine print when comparing warranties. A true warranty should protect you, not just the manufacturer.

Q5. Real Wood Shutters Vs. Faux Shutters?
Real Wood vs. Alternative Shutters — What’s the Difference?
Whether you choose real wood or an alternative material, our goal is to educate honestly using over 76 years of industry experience. We begin by showing you the shutters that have consistently performed best in Colorado’s environment.
The Short Answer
Materials such as PVC, faux wood, vinyl, MDF, composite, and hybrid shutters are all plastic-based alternatives, developed primarily to reduce cost. They have their place, but they do not match real wood in appearance, weight, or long-term performance.
Real wood remains the benchmark for beauty, strength, lighter panels, and longevity.
Our Recommendation
For the finest results, we recommend stabilized real wood shutters. For moisture-prone areas or specific needs, a reinforced PVC shutter can be an excellent alternative when chosen carefully.
We often blend materials strategically — wood where it matters most, alternatives where conditions require it.
Our Philosophy
Shutters have been crafted from wood for over a century for a reason. Choose quality, invest once, and select products that are built to endure.
True craftsmanship never goes out of style.

Q6. Are shutters "Made in China" a quality product?
About Imported (China-Made) Shutters
Shutters made in China are typically less expensive, but quality and timelines can be unpredictable. Installation usually takes 18–24 weeks to get them finally installed, and orders placed around Chinese New Year can add an additional 4–5 weeks.
After production, shutters spend nearly a month in transit, followed by customs and multiple handling points — increasing the risk of damage. Re-ordering damaged parts can mean starting the process over.
While the price may be appealing, we prefer not to cut corners to save a few dollars or trust your money shipped through Customs. Many companies offering these shutters are blind or shade retailers who subcontract shutters and installation, often limited to a single program and style selection.
We believe informed clients deserve options, transparency, and long-term quality — not just the lowest price.

Q7. Who installs your shutters?
Family-Crafted, Custom Plantation Shutters
At our company, every shutter is designed, crafted, and installed by our family. Unlike many other companies that subcontract installations or rely on third parties, we handle every detail ourselves — from initial design to the final installation.
Our team understands that the installation is the final icing on the cake. Proper fit, alignment, and finishing touches elevate shutters from ordinary to extraordinary. Attention to detail is not optional; it’s the hallmark of true craftsmanship.
Many companies may offer shutters, but few understand how to design or install them correctly. With us, you receive exclusive, boutique-quality shutters — built to perfection and installed with the care and precision that only a family-run team can provide.
